Carbon Neutral

What it takes to become ….

A Carbon Neutral Company
As a company, conserving the environment is a priority and becoming carbon neutral was something that we are very proud to accomplish and be a part of. To ensure that our safaris are as environmentally sound as possible, our entire operation is carbon neutral.

We have offset our carbon emissions for 2008, 09, 10, 11 and 2012.

  • Installation of remote oil filtration systems that will considerably increase the vehicle service intervals thereby reducing our oil usage.
  • Investment in newly available top of the range mileage efficient tyres.
  • Education of staff members to be more aware of good energy conservation practices.
  • Purchase of energy efficient stoves to be used at work and also to be given to each staff member for use in their own homes.
  • Educating drivers on fuel efficient driving.

Carbon Neutral Project

Initially we have decided to purchase carbon credits to offset our carbon footprint from a tree planting project in the Bushenyi District. This project works with small-holder farming communities and aims to raise awareness of climate change and related issues, increase household incomes through carbon payments, offer farmers technical advice and conserve biodiversity by promoting the planting of indigenous tree species.
The projects are situated throughout Bushenyi and the areas around Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Marketing our Carbon Neutral Product

Classic Africa Safaris is now at liberty to use any of the Uganda Carbon Bureau’s logos, this includes ‘a carbon neutral company’ and ‘Carbon Neutral 2012’.
