Habibu Muhereza

Habibu was born in the Bushenyi district of Uganda and is of the Munyankole tribe. Habibu worked as a teacher for a few years and then decided to follow his love of animals and became a Uganda Wildlife Authority guide. His work with UWA as a ranger and interpretive tourist guide gave him the opportunity to get to know all of the parks in Uganda. With hard work and dedication he was appointed head UWA guide for Queen Elizabeth National Park. He loved his work in this park because as well as being able to work everyday managing the wildlife, he was also able to educate his local community (Bushenyi district is on the boundaries of Queen Elizabeth National Park) on the proper conduct of living alongside their neighbouring wildlife residents.

Habibu comes to Classic with an excellent reputation and recommendation from not only our own guides but also from UWA and other tour companies. He has completed the USAGA (Uganda Safari Guide Association) tourist and guiding course, the recommended defensive and 4wd course and also guiding and birding courses in Queen Elizabeth, Kibale Forest and Bwindi Forest National Parks.

Dear Habibu. You have been a super guide – informative, gentle and patient. We could always count on you in any situation. I commend your driving in two different countries! I was always cheered on by your smile. Thankyou for showing us your country and letting us come to love it from woodlands and forests to the open savannah. Thankyou, thankyou.

Habibu, Thankyou so much for helping to make our Ugandan safaris such a success. We appreciated your knowledge about the game parks, the animals, your driving skills and your sense of humour…..

I thought the guide on my 2008 MTS Galapagos trip was the best — Luis Die — but I was WRONG!!! Habibu Muhereza was the best guide I’ve ever had on any safari, EVER — and this was my FIFTH trip to the African continent! There aren’t enough superlatives — he was EXCEPTIONAL!!!!”
