Lake Mburo National Park

PARKS | UGANDA

A Mosaic of Habitats

The impala, slender mongoose and secretive bush rat are not found in any other Ugandan park.

An underrated gem of a park, Lake Mburo is dominated by its lake of the same name and forest-fringed shores skirted by rolling hills. While Lake Mburo National Park is relatively small (143mi²) in comparison to other parks in Uganda, it has a total of five lakes within its boundaries.

LMNP should not be discounted due to its small size - it’s a mosaic of habitats and home to an amazing diversity of flora and fauna. In fact, the impala, slender mongoose and secretive bush rat are not found in any other Ugandan park. Burchell’s zebra resides in large numbers here, and they are present in only three protected areas in Uganda. Over 310 bird species have been recorded and it is the best place in Uganda to see eland, topi and several acacia-dwelling bird species.
